Battle Creek, MI – Ancilla College dropped a pair of close games on the road Saturday afternoon. Kalamazoo Valley Community College used a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to win the opener 7-6. In the second game, Ancilla scored two runs but left three runners on base in the top of the seventh inning, a 5-4 loss.
Marshal Furner led Ancilla in the first game with four hits, three RBI and a run scored. Rylan Huntley and Furner each had a double. Jacob Kalt, Zach Woods and Jace Sutherland each had an RBI. Jack Bennett was the loser on the mound allowing seven runs on six hit, with four strikeouts and a walk.
The Chargers had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the seventh, but could push the tying run across. Furner had a triple in the contest, with Huntley, Kalt and Anthony Reyes each had an RBI.
Ancilla falls to 6-25 and 2-14 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. They travel to Battle Creek, MI to play Kellogg Community College on Friday. The first pitch will be at 2 p.m.
