Saturday afternoon, the Marian University Ancilla baseball team hosted its final double-header of the season against the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars. While the day may not have gone as intended with two losses (L 11-0, L 5-0), the Chargers finished their year with 16 wins. Those 16 wins eclipsed the program record of 14 wins in a single season, and there were several younger players who give the program hope for an even better year in the Spring of 2025. Below is a quick look at some notes from Saturday's action.

Game-1 (L 11-0): Sophomore Austin Hear was back in the lineup, following several games missed with an injury. The team's top hitter (.418 average) and run producer (32 RBIs) was 1-2 in the first game, providing one of the team's two hits. Sophomore outfielder James Riddle was responsible for the team's other hit. Sophomore pitcher Nathan Marshman (5-7) was credited with the loss.

Game-2 (L 5-0): The Chargers again struggled to hit in the second game, amassing just three singles. Austin Hear was 2-3, though, while Freshman Cade Riley, who has played well of late, knocked the other single. Freshman Diego Pettiford added to his stolen base total on the year...he is now at 13...despite just 24 at-bats and being used mostly as a courtesy runner the first half of the season. Sophomore Conner Boone was a part of two more double plays, ending his season with 24 double plays turned from his shortstop position. Sophomore Tyler Bumbalough (0-2) drew just his second start of the season and third appearance, but he managed 6.2 innings, allowing just one walk while striking out three.

Congratulations to the entire baseball team on their record-setting season!!
