Wednesday evening proved to be the biggest test of the year to date, as the Marian Ancilla Men's Soccer team welcomed #17 Schoolcraft to Indiana. While the Chargers had several moments of strong play, the Ocelots proved to be deep with talent and skill, winning by a final of 6-0.

The Chargers came out with a very disciplined, defensive approach. They were tied 0-0 nearly midway through the first period before a turnover in their own end produced a foul in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick by Schoolcraft. The attempt by Kevaughn Harris was good, putting the Ocelots ahead, 1-0. Just a few minutes later, and Harris was able to get out in front of the Charger defense, scoring his second goal of the half. Schoolcraft led 2-0, as the teams headed into the intermission.

To begin the second half, MUAC looked a bit more aggressive offensively, even getting a couple of shots away. But Schoolcraft was eventually able to transition quickly to offense, with Adriano Shauyo finding the net two more times early in the second period, putting them ahead by an insurmountable 4-0.

The score stayed at 4-0 for a good portion of the second half, until the Ocelots scored twice more as the clock was winding down, producing the final of 6-0. All-in-all, it was a good opportunity for the Chargers to learn how narrow of a margin there is for mistakes against such a quality opponent. "Schoolcraft is ranked 17th for a reason; they are very disciplined and technical. They capitalized on our mistakes, while we couldn't on theirs. We must rebound quickly and get ready for Grand Rapids (this Saturday), as everyone in our conference is good," expressed Head Coach Kirk Weiss.

The Chargers are indeed back in action this Saturday, as they host Grand Rapids Community College on the MUAC campus. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m., so please come out and support the team, if you are able!!
