The Marian Ancilla Men's Soccer team took to the road Friday evening for the first time since August 26th, this time heading to Chesterton, Indiana, to face Fairhaven Baptist College in the second of their seasonal home-and-home series. The Chargers took the first contest, 7-0 on August 30th, but found their opponent to be much more competitive this time around. Still, the Chargers came out on top, 8-4, and they begin a long month on the road on the right foot.
Standing out for MUAC was Freshman Yeffreys Quintanilla. The midfielder from Elkhart, Indiana, came off the bench to register a hat trick, scoring midway through the first half, then twice midway through the second half. This outstanding feat marks the second time it has happened for a Charger Freshman this year (also accomplished by Bawi Za Sang on September 21st). Congratulations Yeffreys!!
Additional Marian Ancilla goals were scored by Sophomore Exode Minga (assisted by Daniel Akinyose), Sophomore Marek Robinson, Sophomore Santiago Morales (assisted by Aidan Moench), Freshman Victor Rodriguez, and Freshman Jonathan Monjaraz (assisted by Matt Polk Jr.).
Sophomore goalkeeper Tolulope Oluwafemi (1-0-0) drew his first start of the season, giving Redshirt Freshman Trent Platz the night off. Oluwafemi was responsible for four saves on the evening.
The Chargers will look to improve their 6-4 record when they head to Terra State Community College on Wednesday to face the Titans in another non-conference matchup, before heading to Jackson College Saturday afternoon for an MCCAA tilt. The start time Wednesday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., with the opening kick Saturday scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Please come out and support the Men's Soccer team, if you are able!!
