With a 1-0 win Saturday afternoon, the Marian Ancilla Men's Soccer team pushed their record to 5-0 in the month of October, with all five wins coming on the road. In fact, they are 6-1 overall this season when playing away from campus. This time, it was the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks who stood in the way.

Muskegon has been one of the better teams in the MCCAA, so for the Chargers to go on the road and claim the needed victory was impressive. Marian Ancilla is now in control of their own fate, and should they finish the month unscathed, they would qualify for the Region 12 Tournament for the first time since 2020-2021, which was a shortened season. The Chargers now stand at 10-4, and the 10 wins guarantee them a winning season for the first time since 2021-2022.

As for yesterday's game itself, the Chargers were actually out-shot, and they had to weather several runs by the Jayhawks, but Redshirt Freshman Trent Platz was credited with his third consecutive shutout in goal, making it five in total for him this season. Sophomore Santiago Morales was responsible for the lone goal, as he found the back of the net in the 21st minute of action.

Head Coach Kirk Weiss was beaming with pride following the match. "I couldn't be prouder of the guys! This win put us in control of our own tournament chances. Winning on the road in our region is really tough, and the guys have won five road games in a row now." He continued, "Muskegon is a great team, so it's good for the guys to battle like that and get the win. Now, we must turn our focus to our matchup with Lakeland, which will be our last home game as well as Sophomore Day."

The Chargers now have two regular season contests remaining, and they need your support!! Friday, the Men's Soccer team hosts Lakeland in a 5:00 p.m. start. This will be their Sophomore Day, so please come out and show support for the efforts of this Sophomore class!! Then, Saturday, they head to Lake Michigan College for a 3:00 p.m. tilt against the Red Hawks and the opportunity to qualify for the previously mentioned Region 12 Tournament. Please come out and support the team, if you are able!!
