Five Rewarded for Strong Season

The Marian Ancilla Men's Soccer team finished their season Saturday afternoon in the Region 12 Tournament. After an undefeated, 7-game winning streak in October, they wrapped up with a 12-5 overall record. Because of their strong season, five members of the team were honored with MCCAA (Michigan Community College Athletic Association) postseason awards today.

Freshman Defender Zach Huff was named Second Team All-MCCAA for his contributions in the back of the defense. He was physical, aggressive, and showed good foot skill and soccer IQ all season long. Zach came to Marian Ancilla from West Noble High School in Ligonier, Indiana.

Four other Chargers were named Honorable Mention All-MCCAA. They include Redshirt Freshman Goalkeeper Trent Platz, Sophomore Midfielder Santiago Morales, Freshman Midfielder Bawi Za Sang, and Freshman Midfielder Yeffreys Quintanilla.

Platz earned MCCAA Goalkeeper of the Week twice late in the season and came to Marian Ancilla from New Prairie High School. Morales comes from Fishers High School near Indianapolis, and he managed 7 goals scored plus 6 assists on the season. Sang is another Central Indiana kid, coming from Perry Meridian High School. On the season, he led the Chargers with 12 goals, and he added a pair of assists. And Quintanilla did a great job of setting teammates up, recording 8 assists, plus he scored 5 goals of his own. He previously attended the International Soccer Academy of America in Elkhart, Indiana.

Congratulations to all five gentlemen on a highly successful season! The Marian Ancilla community is extremely proud of you!
