Wiggins Sets Mark at Jackson

  JACKSON, MI -- Jonathan Wiggins finished seventh at the Jackson College Jets Classic on Saturday. He set a new Ancilla College men's record with a time of 30:36.87 on the hilly 5-mile course. He also had Ancilla's top individual finish in the short time the college has sponsored a cross county program. Nathan Samuels was second for the Chargers and 19th overall in a time of 31:38.25. He had set the current Ancilla record in the first race of the year.

  Ancilla's team was not as successful as injuries took their toll. The Chargers finished eighth with 167 points.  Grand Rapids took the top spot with 38 points and had the meet's top runner in Joshua Kipkeoch who ran 27:39.56.  Host Jackson was second with 99 points.

  Kelsey Brown (46th overall) was third for Ancilla finishing in 35:51.45, followed by Matthew Markovitz (59) 39:10.13, Austin Garcia (60) 40:33.78 and Jacob Woods (62) in 43:22.53.  

  Abbigail Griffin (39) led the Ancilla women with a time of 27:27.51, Alexia Nickrent (42) in 28:39.42. The Lady Chargers did not field a full team and did not place in the final team standings, which Grand Rapids won. 

  Ancilla travels to Grayling, MI of Friday to run in the Firebird Invitational on the campus of Kirtland, MI.
