Samuels, Wiggins, and Griffin Compete at Nationals

Fort Dodge, IA --Nathan Samuels ran a personal best time 29.08 over the five-mile course at the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships, Saturday. The time was good enough for 78th place and another new Ancilla College men's record. Jonathan Wiggins ran through an ankle injury sustained in the first half mile of the course and ran a 30:28 race, good for the 109th position.

Abbigail Griffin was the lone female on the trip and she set a personal best (25:19) and elapsed the Ancilla female record by nine seconds on the 3.1-mile course at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course.

Ancilla's foray back into cross country this year led to some of the programs most noteworthy accomplishments. Samuels and Wiggins traded wins and school records, Griffin led the women's program from start to finish. The Chargers were ranked 16th in the nation after the first week of the season. Coach Mat Ferriter got a lot out of his first team and has a good start on the sports future.
