The Marian University Ancilla Charger softball team faced a tough opponent Saturday, and the Lansing Stars were strong at the plate, in the field, and in the pitcher's circle, sweeping a pair of games from the Chargers, 21-3 and 24-0. Through yesterday's action, the Stars are now 6-0 in MCCAA play and leading the Western Division.

The Chargers did look solid at the plate in the first contest of the day, Saturday, amassing 6 hits, including a home run by Freshman Ambrosia Mason!! The lefty slugger added a single and drove in all 3 Charger runs in the game. Freshman Alyssa Mulbarger also picked up a pair of base knocks, including a double, and she stole two bases. Freshmen Keely Qualkenbush and Abby Witt were responsible for the other two Charger hits.

The second outing saw the Chargers reach base safely on six hits once again, all singles, but unfortunately they were unable to produce any runs. Alyssa Mulbarger again reached base twice, and fellow Freshman Abigail Heaston also reached safely on two occasions. Abby Witt and Freshman Justice Billingsley accounted for the other two hits.

The MUAC softball team gets a few days off before playing Jackson College this Friday in a double-header. Those are home games scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET. The Chargers then turn around and host Lake Michigan College this Saturday in another twin bill. Saturday's matchups are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. ET. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
