Men's Wrestling - Tournament Recap Highlights Individual Successes

The MU Ancilla Men's Wrestling Team was back in action over the Winter Break as they prepared for two large invitationals.  On January 7th, the Chargers headed to St. Louis, MO to take part in the Jim Bongo Bayly Open which was hosted by Maryville University.  This invitational brought together wrestlers from NCAA Division 1, 2, 3, NAIA, and JUCO programs which provided fierce competition.  Sergio Bueno, a Sophomore who competed at 285 lbs provided the highlight of the weekend for MU Ancilla with a 3rd place overall finish.

The Chargers returned to action on January 14th when they took part in the Spartan Mat Classic hosted by Manchester University.  Chris Bullock was the Charger stand-out in this event that again, was filled with very strong competition.

Head Coach Mark Line was proud of his guys' effort at these high-level events.  "We wanted to challenge ourselves against some of the top wrestlers in the midwest and I think we were able to do that.  We had some really strong showings in individual matches that I think will help us as we move forward in our season and more importantly, the post-season.  Sergio was outstanding in St. Louis for us and Chris had a very strong day at Manchester."

The Charger wrestlers will return to action on January 21st when they will take part in the Harper Open in Palentine, IL.
