Chargers Interrupt MCCAA Play, Visit Bethel

The Marian Ancilla Volleyball team took a quick break from MCCAA play Monday night to travel to NAIA Bethel University for a matchup against the Pilot Junior Varsity team. While they played much better throughout the contest, the Chargers still fell in four sets, 3-1 (21-25, 17-25, 25-17, 23-25).

Despite the loss, MUAC Head Coach Heaven Donovan felt like it was a productive evening. "Competing against Bethel was a good opportunity for the ladies to experience volleyball at the 4-year level while taking a break from conference play. We played hard and competed, plus we started to come together, we made several nice plays, and we attempted to match their energy, intensity, and discipline throughout the match."

Charger 6-foot Freshman Kayla Ford-Harvey had one of her best nights, leading the team in hitting (.455). Redshirt Freshman Kylee Saylor followed (.308), while Freshman Kaitlynn Kelderhouse hit well (.250) and added 12 assists on the night. Sophomore Brooke Schroeder led defensively, taking on 41 serve-receive balls with just 9 errors committed.

The ladies return to the court tonight, Tuesday, for an MCCAA matchup with Kellogg Community College. The game against the Bruins is just their second home contest of the season, and the first in nearly three weeks. First serve tonight is set for 6:30 p.m. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
