The Marian Ancilla Women's Cross Country team began their meet season Friday morning, as they participated in the Skippers Cross Country Showcase at Saint Clair County Community College. The day proved to be a brutal combination of heat, humidity, plus some muddy sections, slowing course conditions and causing runners to post slower-than-normal times.

Additionally, the Chargers had two runners who couldn't participate due to medical situations, and unfortunately Freshman Daniela Ruiz Baca was unable to finish the race and had to stop around the 2-mile mark. Down those three runners, only four ladies were able to finish, not allowing the Chargers to post a team score.

Freshman Ciara Bonner did highlight the day, as she set a new MUAC women's record with her time of 24:39.70 in the women's 5k race. A big congratulations to Ciara for this accomplishment!! She also finished 41st overall. Sophomore Lucy Lillis (67th) and Freshman Chloe Szumanski (69th) finished near each other, both posting sub 29-minute times.

The Chargers will run again on Friday, September 20th, when they head to Lansing, Michigan. Good luck to our MUAC Women's Cross Country team!!
