The Lady Lakers traveled to Donaldson, IN to face the Ancilla College Chargers for the second time in three days. After defeating Ancilla in overtime on Friday, the Lakers were planning for another difficult challenge on Sunday. In this game, the Lakers started fast and never looked back. Just three minutes into the game, Michell Molina hit Bridgette Karr with a through pass in the middle of the box and Karr quickly slipped it by the Ancilla netminder to stake the Lakers to the early 1-0 lead.  Less than 15 minutes later, Mya Cannaday netted a crossing pass from Karr. Olivia Ditzel scored the Lakers third goal at the 35:37 minute of the first half.

Lakeland continued to pour it on in the second half as Molina gave the Lakers a commanding 4-0 lead scoring off of a corner. Ancilla would score it's lone goal in the 63rd minute just before Cannaday scored her second goal of the day - this time on a penalty kick. Molina would pick up her second goal of the day on a nice thru pass from Makayla Bolon. Bridgette Karr would finish up the scoring as she ripped a shot past the goalie at the 73 minute mark.

The Lakers 7-1 victory improves their record to 5-4 (3-3). Lakeland outshot Ancilla 29-4 and led in corners 12-2. Gina Grandini picked up the win in net for the Lakers while being credited with 2 saves.

Sivik's Sentiments: "It was important for us to start off quick and take control of the game early. All phases of the game were on today. Gina (Grandini) made a couple of brilliant saves early in the game. Sarah (Turniski) did a great job marking Ancilla's best player, and our defense did really well overall. Aria (Evans-Roskos) and Rae (Sirl) had big games controlling the midfield and our forwards were finishing. It was a solid team effort today - I was really proud of our players."

Next up:  Lakeland will play host to Lake Michigan Community College next Saturday (10/2) at 1pm on Laker Field.
