DONALDSON, Ind. — Ancilla College Athletics are pleased to announce that Richard Warren has been tabbed to become the first Track & Field coach in program history at Ancilla College.

"Being an Argos, Indiana native, Richard is coming back home. What a tremendous opportunity to hire a coach with such experience and expertise. As a values-oriented person Richard is an easy fit. He has coached at the Division 1 level and will be the ideal person to start Track at Ancilla College for men and women."
Prior to Ancilla, Warren was the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country at the University of Hartford. During Warren's tenure, Hartford produced their first Conference Champion in program history, set new school records in five events, and saw over seventy new personal bests.
Before Hartford, Warren coached at The Ohio State University, Warren helped 10 student-athletes achieve personal bests in the high jump and multi-events. In his final season, two of those student-athletes capped off the year by earning USTFCCCA Academic All-America honors. Overall, six of Warren's student-athletes scored at the Big Ten Indoor or Outdoor Championships while two advanced to the NCAA Regionals, and one qualified for the USATF Junior National Championship.
Prior to Ohio State, Warren coached at Southmont High School in Crawfordsville, Ind. While at Southmont, Warren gained national recognition while working with Jonathon Christensen who, under Warren's leadership, broke school, county, conference, sectional, and regional records on his way to being a two-time IATCCC Indoor State Champion, two-time IHSAA State Outdoor Champion, a first-place finisher at 2011 Midwest Meet of Champions, and a high school All-American. Christensen finished the 2011 indoor season being ranked No. 1 in the nation with a leap of 2.20m (7-2.50). Along with Christensen, Warren guided three long jumpers to the IATCCC indoor state track meet. During his seven year coaching career, Warren has coached four sectional champions in the high jump, two regional champions, as well as five high jump and five long jump regional qualifiers.
As a student-athlete, Warren competed at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind., and one season at Kansas State University. While at Bethel, Warren completed an undefeated freshmen season by winning the 2000 NAIA Outdoor National Championship in the high jump. During his collegiate career at Bethel, Warren was a NAIA national champion and two-time NCCAA national champion, as well as a two-time NAIA All-American, four-time NCCAA All-American, and two-time MCC conference champion. Warren still holds the Bethel College school record in the high jump.
A native of Argos, Ind., Warren is a USATF Level I Certified Coach.
