Griffin, Samuels, and Wiggins Compete at Nationals

Fort Dodge, IA -- Abbigail Griffin set a personal best (25:19) and elapsed the Ancilla female cross country record by nine seconds on the 3.1-mile course at the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships, Saturday. Griffin was Ancilla's lone female runner.

On the men's side, Nathan Samuels ran a personal best time 29.08 over the five-mile course. The time was good enough for 78th place and another new Ancilla College men's record at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. Jonathan Wiggins ran through an ankle injury, sustained in the first half mile of the course, and ran a 30:28 race; good for the 109th position.

Ancilla's foray back into cross country this year led to some of the programs most noteworthy accomplishments. Samuels and Wiggins traded wins and school records, Griffin led the women's program from start to finish. The Chargers were ranked 16th in the nation after the first week of the season. Coach Mat Ferriter got a lot out of his first team and has a good start on the sports future.
