Welcome to Ancilla College Cheer
The Ancilla College Cheer Team is a sideline and competitive cheer team that cheers select home soccer, volleyball and basketball games. The team competes 3-5 times throughout the year with a trip to Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC at the end of the season. Cheer athletes are able to be selected for athletic scholarships based on skills/cheer experience, academics and financial need.
During the 2015-16 season, the Ancilla Cheer Team finished with four 1st place finishes, a second place finish and a fourth place finish. The team rounded out their season in Sevierville, TN where they won the 2015-16 JamFest Nationals National Championship.
They also take part in several community appearances and service projects throughout the year as requested.
Skills requirements:
-Stunting (Co-ed or All-Gril): Ability to stunt in multiple positions. Ability to perform Halves/Toss to hands, Fulls, Extended one leg stunts. Experience with pyramid building and basket tosses prefered. Co-Ed stunting experience in not required. Flyers will be asked to show any/all body positions.
-Tumbling: Standing Backhandspring or higher prefered for females - (will consider athletes without tumbling) Advanced tumbling is always a plus and will be taken into consideration.
-Jumps: Ability to perform advanced jumping skills including toe-touches, right & left hurdle, and pikes. Team members will also be required to perform double and triple jumps as well.
-ENGAGEMENT: Advanced ability to lead the crowd on the sidelines as well as in a routine. Extreme Charger spirit is required!!
Time Commitment:
Ancilla College Cheerleaders will begin their season in the summer with a trip to NCA College Cheer Camp in Louisville, KY
The team is scheduled to practice on a 3 day a week schedule - general schedule runs on a Monday & Wednesday evenings, and Friday afternoon schedule, but is subject to change based on gym time. All team members are given a full year calendar at the start of the season (Calendar is subject to change).
The team cheers for home men & women's soccer games (approx. 4-5 of each) as well as select volleyball home games (5-7) in the fall. If any team goes on to the post season, the team may be subject to traveling responsibilities to cheer them on!
In the winter, the team begins their competitive season. They will perform as early as December through the first week of April with 5-7 competitions scheduled throughout. While in competitive season, the team will be responsible for cheering for Men & Women's basketball home events and any other special performances as requested.
The team will wrap up their season with a trip to nationals in the spring - location varies by year!
