Following a Saturday sweep, the Marian University Ancilla baseball team traveled to Indianapolis Sunday for a twin bill with the Marian University (Indianapolis) JV team. The Chargers struggled at the plate early in the day, but they found their offense midway through the second outing and didn't look back.

In the first game, the Chargers fell 13-0, as they managed just 4 hits during the 5-inning game. They did walk 4 times as well, but they also hit into a pair of double plays. Additionally, 5 errors in the field didn't help matters, as Marian Ancilla pitchers were only credited with 4 earned runs out of the 13 total runs allowed. Sophomores Kennon KempAustin Hear, and Hunter Smith, plus Freshman Cade Riley, were responsible for the team's 4 singles. Freshman Jaden Franceschina (2-2) was credited with the loss, but fortunately only 3 of the 10 runs he allowed were earned. He also struck out 2 batters in 2.2 innings pitched.

As the second matchup began, the Chargers found themselves down 7-0 through 3 innings. However, as they have done several times this season, they battled back and exploded for 13 runs over the next 5 innings, managing the 13-12 come-from-behind win against the Knights. Again, the Chargers used balance, with seven players driving in at least one run. Sophomore outfielder Hunter Smith, Sophomore first baseman Lincoln Parrish, and Freshman third baseman Blaze Schultz were each responsible for driving in a pair of runners. The Chargers also stole 5 bases, with Freshman Diego Pettiford nabbing his 7th and 8th bases of the year. Freshman Jacob Hobbs (3-1) picked up the win, as he pitched a scoreless 7th inning while striking out 2, and Freshman John Morgan collected his 1st save of the season while pitching a scoreless 8th inning, plus he struck out 3 of the 5 batters he faced.

The Marian Ancilla baseball team is now 13-5 on the year with a busy week ahead of them. They are next at home on Saturday, when they host Lake Michigan College in a 1:00 p.m. conference tilt. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
