Friday afternoon, the Marian University Ancilla baseball team traveled to Centreville, Michigan, to take on Glen Oaks Community College. They left with their 14th and 15th victories of the season, setting a single-season program win record, surpassing the previous high of 14. Below is a recap of several of the highlights from their two wins over the Vikings.

Game-1 (W 3-2): Glen Oaks actually got scoring started in the bottom of the 1st inning, when they scored on a wild pitch with 2 outs and runners on the corners. The Chargers threatened a couple of times early, but it wasn't until the top of the 5th that they finally struck. With 2 outs and Sophomore Conner Boone on second base, the shortstop advaned to third following a wild pitch. Sophomore Austin Hear then doubled, scoring Boone, and tying the game 1-1. The next batter, Sophomore Tyler Bumbalough, then singled to center, scoring Hear, and it was 2-1 Chargers.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Vikings had runners reach on an error and a hit batsman. Then, a fielder's choice allowed the lead runner to score, knotting the game at 2-2. As the game came down to the wire, the Chargers were able to knock in the winning run in the top of the 7th inning. It was the product of a Conner Boone single, then Boone stealing second base, followed by a wild pitch and a passed ball, with Boone crossing the plate safely. The Chargers were able to finish by getting three consecutive outs in the bottom of the 7th to seal the deal.

Freshman Jaden Franceschina (3-3) put together one of his best outings of the season, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing just 2 runs and 2 hits, while striking out 4. Sophomore Christian Conder executed a 3-up, 3-down 7th inning to pick up his first save of the season, and the Chargers moved to 14-11, tying the previous wins record.

Game-2 (W 13-8): The Chargers were "that" team again, scoring in bunches a couple of times in Game-2. They led off with a 4-run 1st inning that saw Conner Boone triple on the first pitch of the game. Sophomore Kennon Kemp scored Boone on his single, Austin Hear reached on an error, Sophomore Jomar Negron singled to score Kemp, and Tyler Bumbalough singled to score Hear, all before there was an out recorded. With two outs and the bases loaded, Freshman Traevyn Shoaf was hit by a pitch, scoring Bumbalough, and it was 4-0 early. Glen Oaks chipped away with a single, a walk, and a double in the bottom of the 1st, making it 4-1, but that was it for either team until the 4th inning.

In the top of the 4th, MUAC plated two more runs on a walk by Shoaf, a double by Boone, followed by a single by Kemp, scoring Shoaf, and a risky steal of home by Boone. The Chargers expanded their lead to 6-1 in all of the excitement. The very next inning, the Chargers saw Boone and Kemp both hit by pitches. They each then stole a base, and Hear singled to score the pair of runners, putting MUAC ahead by an 8-1 margin.

In the bottom of the 5th, a single, an error, and a pair of walks allowed the Vikings to trim the lead to 8-2. In the back & forth, the Chargers added a run in the top of the 6th on a single by Freshman Isaiah Steinhilber, scoring Sophomore Nathan Marshman, and it was 9-2 at that point. But the Vikings immediately answered in the bottom of the 6th due to a couple of hits, a couple of errors, and a walk, and GOCC was able to find 3 more runs, making it 9-5 with an inning to go.

The Chargers now needed a little insurance, and they got it in the top of the 7th inning. A leadoff single by Boone, a walk by Kemp, and a single by Negron scored both Boone and Kemp. Sophomore Lincoln Parrish then singled and Steinhilber walked. Sophomore James Riddle smashed a line drive single into left field, scoring Parrish and Freshman pinch-runner Diego Pettiford, and it was 13-5 Marian Ancilla late. However, the Vikings were able to put a little pressure on the Chargers by scoring 3 more runs in the bottom of the 7th, but they weren't enough, as MUAC headed home following the 13-8 decision.

Freshman Jacob Hobbs (4-2) had a nice outing, pitching 5.1 innings, allowing just 1 earned run, while striking out two. He picked up the victory in the second game. Sophomore Nolan Green finished off the 7th inning, allowing a walk, but getting the final 3 outs and picking up his team-leading 8th save of the season.
