A day after sweeping the Vikings of Glen Oaks Community College at their place, and setting a program record for single-season wins, the Chargers hosted Glen Oaks in Donaldson, and the Vikings returned the favor, taking both games by a total of a 19-2 margin. Below is a look at the highlights from Saturday's competition.

Game-1 (L 9-0): Glen Oaks starting pitcher Andrew Onuegbu controlled the first game of the day, pitching all 7.0 innings, allowing just 1 hit, 1 walk, and striking out 11 Charger batters. Marian Ancilla got a walk by Sophomore Kennon Kemp in the 1st inning and a single by Freshman Blaze Schultz in the 2nd inning, but neither runner made it past second base, and that was it offensively for the Chargers in the opening contest. Sophomore Nathan Marshman (4-4) drew the start and tallied the loss, though he did make it 4.2 innings. Freshman Diego Pettiford took the mound for the first time this season and recorded outs for both batters he faced to end the game.

Game-2 (L 10-2): After a slow start, Glen Oaks began the scoring in Game #2 when they plated a pair of runs in the top of the 3rd inning. The Vikings had runners on second and third, executed a squeeze bunt sacrificing the hitter running to first base, then managed to get both runners from second and third across on the same play, claiming a 2-0 lead.

The Chargers responded in the bottom of the 4th inning, when Sophomore Austin Hear, Freshman Isaiah Steinhilber, Freshman Blaze Schultz, and Sophomore Tyler Bumbalough hit four consecutvie singles, tying the contest at 2-2. But the Chargers would only manage one more single and one walk over the final 3 innings.

The Vikings, on the other hand, erupted for 6 runs in the top of the 6th inning, as they led off with a solo home run, then followed that with a series of singles and walks strung throughout the inning, taking a commanding 8-2 lead. A couple more singles, a walk, and an error allowed them 2 more runs in the 7th, and that finished all scoring with Glen Oaks on top, 10-2.

Typically the closer, Sophomore Nolan Green (0-3) started his second game of the season. He managed 5.0 innings, while allowing 5 earned and striking out 2. Freshmen Traevyn Shoaf and Blaze Schultz also saw an inning of action apiece.

The Chargers baseball team is back in action Thursday and Saturday this week, as they have a 4-game series with the Kellogg Community College Bruins. Thursday they head to Kellogg, while they then host the Bruins Saturday afternoon. The Chargers will also play host to the Marian University (Indianapolis) JV Team on Sunday afternoon. Please come out and support the record-setting Chargers!!
