Kalamazoo Valley Pitchers Stifle Chargers

The Marian University Ancilla Baseball team had a tough time at the plate Friday afternoon, as they managed just 4 hits in a double-header at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. All 4 of those hits came in the opening game, and while they were able to also walk 4 times throughout the day, the Chargers managed just 2 runs in a pair of losses to the Cougars, 14-2 and 6-0. Below is a quick recap of yesterday's action.

GAME-1 (L 14-2): The Chargers actually led very early in this one, as Freshman Logan Clark hit a 1-out solo bomb over the right field fence in the top of the 1st inning, putting Marian Ancilla on top, 1-0. That lead was short-lived, however, as the Cougars would score twice in the bottom of the 1st, once in the 2nd, once in the 3rd, and 6 times in the 4th, amassing a 10-1 lead at that time.

MUAC scored its second run in the top of the 5th inning, as Freshman Aiden Marcus hit a 2-out single to shortstop, scoring Freshman Kaleb Short. Redshirt freshman Aiden Diaz (0-4) started on the hill for the Chargers and was assessed the loss for this game.

GAME-2 (L 6-0): In the second game of the day, Kalamazoo Valley got an outstanding pitching performance from starter Jack Crittendon, who worked a complete game no-hitter against Marian Ancilla. Crittendon did walk 2 batters, with a 3rd reaching on an error, but otherwise he was flawless, striking out 12 Charger batters in 7 innings.

Logan Clark was able to draw both walks for MUAC, and he was moved into scoring position when Sophomore Isaiah Steinhilber laid down a sacrifice bunt in the top of the 4th inning, but nothing was to come of it. Sophomore Blaze Schultz (0-4) took the loss in this game, but he did strike out 6 batters in 5 1/3 innings of work.

The Marian Ancilla Baseball team returns to their own field today, Saturday (4/12/25), when they host these same Kalamazoo Valley Cougars in another double-header. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m., with the second game likely beginning around 3:30 p.m. Please come out and support the guys, if you are able!!
