Charger Head Coach Chuck Bowen is in his second full season at the helm of the Marian University Ancilla Baseball program, following his time as the interim Head Coach during the 2023 season. During his first year as the full-time Head Coach in 2023-2024, Bowen helped lead the Chargers to a program record 16 wins. Additionally, graduates from that team have successfully moved on to continue their careers as student-athletes at NCAA Division-II, NCAA Division-III, and NAIA 4-year schools. Prior to his time working at Marian Ancilla, Coach Bowen has a varied list of coaching stints that include a lot of time coaching prep players. He has been a coach at the grassroots level, helping with the Michiana Brewers, and he has also served as a coach at John Glenn High School and Argos Community High School.
Coach Bowen has strong ties to the Marian Ancilla program, having been a student-athlete here approximately 15 years ago. Suiting up for the formerly named Ancilla Chargers in 2008 & 2009, Bowen was recognized as the conference's Freshman Pitcher of the Year (2008), and he was voted as a team captain (2009). Bowen graduated from Ancilla College in 2009 with an Associate of Science degree. He went on to complete his undergraduate education at Indiana University-South Bend where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree of Liberal Arts. Bowen finished his schooling by attending Aspen University, where he earned a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice, with a specialization in Law Enforcement Management.
In addition to his position as Marian Ancilla Baseball Head Coach, Bowen serves as the Regional Director of Business Development for the Hickory Recovery Network. There, he helps those with substance abuse disorders navigate their way through treatment to ultimately achieve lasting sobriety. He is also a member of the North Liberty Christian Church, where he serves on the security team and is the head of the grounds crew.
Coach Bowen is a 2007 graduate of John Glenn High School, where he had a highly successful prep career for Coach John Nadolny. Bowen also married his high school sweetheart, Jess, in 2011, and the couple reside near Walkerton, Indiana, with their five children: Adilynn, Avery, Charleigh, Calliope, and Ellyza. Avery Bowen can be seen spending time serving as the MUAC team's bat boy.
