Charger Co-Ed Cheer Signs Nelson

GARY, IN – Janeé Nelson, a graduate of Calumet High School, has signed her Letter of Intent to become a member of the Ancilla Cheer Team.

Originally from Chicago, IL, Nelson moved to Gary and began cheering during middle school. She then went on to cheer for the Warriors for four years. Coached by Holly Piunti, she earned her Varsity Letter and the Mental Attitude Award. Nelson is Coach Piunti's first cheerleader to sign to a college team.

Besides cheering, Nelson was also on the A-B Honor Roll, and a member of the JV Basketball Team for one year. "Janeé is such a sweet girl, and I'm really happy to have her on the team," Ancilla Head Coach Delia Nicholls states. "She's persistent, and that's going to get her far on this team, and in life. Janeé has a lot of talent, and I'm excited to help her reach her full potential."

Nelson is looking forward to beginning a new chapter at Ancilla. "I'm really excited to start college," she says. "The one thing I can't wait to do is start my Pre-Med classes."

Nelson will be basing and flying for the Charger Cheer Team. She is the daughter of Shavon Coleman and Jamalh Nelson.
