Winter Sports Wrap Up: Men's Basketball Sees 4 Earn All-MCCAA Western Conference Awards

The MU Ancilla Men's Basketball Team wrapped up their season with 4 players being named to the All-MCCAA Western Conference teams.  Maurice Russell led the way as he was named to the 3rd-Team All-MCCAA Western Conference Team.  Russell led the Chargers offense this season averaging 14.7 points per game and 12.1 points per game in MCCAA play.

In addition to Russell, three Chargers were named to the Honorable Mention team.  KeAndre Nelson was named after leading MU Ancilla in scoring during MCCAA play where he averaged 14.1 points per game.  Jo Coleman earned his spot after averaging 13.9 points per game in MCCAA play.  Zach Dutton was also named to the Honorable Mention team after a strong year where he averaged 10.5 points per game on 40% shooting from the 3-point line.

Coach Jeremy Herring was happy to see his guys earn awards.  "I am really pleased to see 4 of our guys on the All-MCCAA list and all 4 definitely deserved to be named.  Maurice had a great year for us even after dealing with a significant ankle injury that slowed him down for a bit.  He showed a lot of character and toughness throughout that and finished his season on a strong note.  KeAndre really stepped up his play during the MCCAA schedule and provided consistent scoring for us.  Jo Coleman had some huge nights for us in our MCCAA wins.  His shooting from the perimeter allowed us to have some big offensive nights.  Zach Dutton showed himself to be one of the top 3-point shooters in the MCCAA Western Conference.  His catch-and-shoot ability is hard to find in 6'5 wing players.  I am really excited to see how each of these guys develop their games as they continue their basketball careers."

The Chargers look to prepare for next season with a solid core group of returning players that will combine with a strong recruiting class.
