Chargers Drop Weekend Opener, 67-52

The Marian University Ancilla men's basketball team traveled to St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Michigan, for a pair of weekend games. However, Friday afternoon they fell 67-52 in the opener at the hands of Lakeland Community College out of Ohio.

At the half, the Chargers trailed just 21-20 to the Lakers, and for the most part, the second half statistics were very similar across the board, with one exception...the Lakers (5-12 3-pointers) outscored the Chargers (1-13 3-pointers) by 12 points from behind the arc over the last 20 minutes.

MUAC Freshman guard Marcellous Boyd was an efficient 5-7 from the field for 12 points, in addition to posting 3 rebounds and a pair of steals in the contest. Freshman forward Hunter Kline led the Chargers in scoring with 13 points off the bench, plus he pulled in 4 caroms. Freshman guard Kameron Hordge also scored in double figures for MUAC with 10 points. Lakeland saw both Jareon Mayo (15 points) and Alex Benson (14 points) reach double digits, with 23 of those points coming in the second half for the Lakers.

Marian Ancilla is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, as they take on host St. Clair County Community College at 5:00 p.m. ET. Good luck to the men's basketball team as they look to earn the split over the weekend!!
