Rebounding, 3-Point Shooting Propel Chargers to Home Win

Thursday evening, the Marian University Ancilla men's basketball team battled the Olive-Harvey Panthers at home, winning the nail-biter, 76-71. It took a season-best shooting night from behind the arc (10-18, 56%) and winning the rebounding battle, 38-20, but ultimately the Chargers got the job done.

Freshman guard Kameron Hordge had a huge night off the bench, scoring 25 points on 9-16 shooting, including 5-8 from downtown. He also knocked down both free throw attempts, snagged 6 caroms, and collected a steal in the victory. Freshman forward Jayden Sanders was equally strong along the frontline, as he tossed in 21 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and handed out 3 assists. Sophomore wing Ben Jones also scored in double figures with 10 points.

Olive-Harvey placed three players in double digits, led by Freshman guard Damar Reed with 18 points off the bench. Freshman guard Matthew Hoarde added 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Freshman guard Ryan Burgess contributed 15 points and 4 rebounds to the effort.

The Charger men's basketball team has a busy upcoming schedule with games each of the next four days. Tonight, they head to Bethel where they will take on the Pilots' Junior Varsity team. Saturday afternoon they host Illinois Central College, and Sunday they host Indiana Tech's Junior Varsity team, before heading back on the road Monday evening to take on IU-Northwest's Junior Varsity team.
