Huge First Half Propels Chargers to 7th Win in 8 Games

In their first home game since December 16th, the Marian University Ancilla men's basketball team came out aggressive and unstoppable at times, defeating CBG Prep by an 83-56 margin Wednesday night. The Chargers used a 19-12 turnover advantage, plus they played unselfishly, assisting on 24 of their 35 made baskets.

The first half saw MUAC jump out to a 44-18 advantage, but CBG was much better after halftime, with the Chargers only winning the last period by one point, 39-38. All of this came without normal starters Willie Reece and Jayden Sanders in the lineup, both of whom sat out injured.

In their place, Sophomore DeAndre Coleman and Freshman Sean Kimble got the nod. Coleman was outstanding, tying for game high honors with 22 points. He was 9-14 from the field and grabbed 6 rebounds in his starting debut. Kimble, who has started at times previously, hit a pair of 3-pointers for 6 points, plus he added 5 rebounds and a pair of assists. Freshman Kameron Hordge tied Coleman with 22 points contributed, plus he added 6 rebounds of his own. Freshman Tyshaun Grundy came off the bench to assist an impressive 15 times as well. He added 5 rebounds and 3 steals to his efforts.
