Makeup Monday Doubly Tough for Charger Basketball

Charger basketball teams just had no luck in Dowagiac, Michigan, Monday night, as the Marian University Ancilla men's team also fell at the hands of Southwestern Michigan, 70-58. After playing a tight first half against the Roadrunners, and trailing by just a 33-30 margin at halftime, the Charger men were outscored by 9 points in the second half for the final margin.

While the Chargers forced 24 turnovers out of their opponent, they were out-rebounded 39-29 on the glass, and they gave up a 14-23 (60.9%) shooting performance by the Roadrunners from 3-point range, allowing them to outscore MUAC by 24 points from beyond the arc.

The Chargers placed three players in double figures for scoring, with Freshman Sean Kimble leading the way with 11 points, and fellow Freshmen Kameron Hordge and Clayton Bubash adding 10 points apiece. Sophomore Ben Jones put together the best all-around game, scoring 8 points, pulling down 9 boards, handing out a pair of assists, and collecting a pair of steals.

Southwestern Michigan was paced by Rodell Davis Jr. with 21 points, including a sizzling 7-11 performance from 3-point range. Prince Adams posted a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Mari Nichols also scored in double figures with 16 points. Nichols was 3-6 from deep.

The Chargers are now 10-8 on the season and 2-2 in the MCCAA. They return to action tomorrow, January 31st, at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan. They will follow the women's game, with an approximate tip time of 7:30 p.m. ET. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
