Sometimes being just a little off makes for a tough result, as was the case for the Marian University Ancilla men's basketball team Wednesday night. The Chargers traveled to Benton Harbor, Michigan, to take on the Lake Michigan College Red Hawks, and it was a case where the game was much closer than the score indicates.

The Chargers lost the rebounding battle by just 1 (33-32), they lost the turnover battle by just two (15-13), they did get more shots off (64-59), but they made just three fewer (27-24). In the end, being close didn't count for much, as they fell by 15. The biggest discrepancies, in fact, came from behind the 3-point line, where they were outscored by 9 points, and from the free throw line, where they were outscored by 6 points. You can point specifically to those 15 points as the difference in the game.

The loss is unfortunately the third in a row for the Chargers, as they fall to 10-9 overall and 2-3 in the MCCAA Western Division. They have one more game before taking on everyone in the conference one more time, so there is still plenty of opportunity for the men's team to bounce back and contend for a Western Division title.

Leading the Chargers was Sophomore Willie Reece with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Freshman Kameron Hordge scored 14 points in a rare start, while Freshman Jayden Sanders led MUAC with 9 rebounds.

The Red Hawks got 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocked shots from Michael Durr. Also scoring in double figures were Jailen Campbell with 15 points and Zahyem Bradwell with 10 points. Bradwell also tied for the team lead with 8 rebounds, while Da'Marion Morris led the team with 8 assists. The Red Hawks assisted on 21 of their 27 made baskets.

The MUAC men's basketball team is back in action this Saturday, as they play host to Kellogg Community College. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET at Charger Arena, following the women's game. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
