Saturday, the Marian University Ancilla men's basketball team sought out to win their first game in two weeks, but it just wasn't meant to be, as they fell to Kellogg Community College, 84-76. The Chargers did a nice job taking care of the basketball, limiting their turnvoers to just 9 while forcing 15 by the visiting Bruins, but they were outrebounded by a 49-27 margin.

The Chargers took off from the tip, getting easy scores and picking up defensive stops, eventually leading 26-14 early in the game. But Kellogg fought back, and a couple of big 3-pointers later in the first half helped them catch up, earning them a 37-36 lead with just a couple of seconds left. However, a baseline out-of-bounds set went directly to Charger Sophomore Willie Reece, and he powered it in just before the buzzer, giving MUAC the 38-37 lead heading into the locker room at the half.

The second half saw the Bruins take control, as they regained the lead early, then extended it to as many as 14 points late, but the Chargers wouldn't go down without a fight. They cut it to single digits multiple times, but Marian Ancilla just ran out of time.

The Chargers were led by Freshman Kameron Hordge who scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Sophomore Ben Jones was big off the bench, adding 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Reece also scored in double figures, posting 12 points for the Chargers.

Kellogg placed four players in double figures, with Jakyren Woods topping all Bruins with 17 points. He added 8 rebounds and 2 assists as well. Isaiah Moore was huge off the bench with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double. Ke'Marion Tucker (14 points) and Mikial Miller (11 points) also met the double-digit mark.

MUAC is back in action this Wednesday, when they host Southwestern Michigan in a rematch of a game they played last Monday. The game at Charger Arena will follow the women's game, with a tip time of approximately 7:30 p.m. ET. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
