Sometimes basketball is a simple game and comes down to just making shots. Unfortunately for the Marian University Ancilla Chargers, the Vikings of Glen Oaks were locked in Saturday afternoon, making over 50% of their shots from the field, including a 14-35 (40%) performance from behind the 3-point line. Both teams took care of the basketball, and there weren't enough fouls to make a difference. But the Vikings were simply 14% better from the field and 9% better from long range.

Glen Oaks came out hot from the tip, scoring 46 points in the opening half, but they were also locked in on defense, allowing the Chargers just 28 first-period points. MUAC was better offensively after halftime, scoring 37 points in the second, however, an explosive 51-point mark in the second half kept the Vikings comfortably on top.

This was the rematch of a January 17th outing when the MUAC Chargers knocked off Glen Oaks, 66-65, at Charger Arena in Plymouth, Indiana. However, the road has been much tougher on the Chargers, and Saturday unfortunately continued that trend.

Sophomore Willie Reece led Marian Ancilla scorers with 20 points, including 3-5 shooting from deep. Freshman Jayden Sanders scored 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, while Sophomore DeAndre Coleman was again in double figures with 10 points.

Glen Oaks' Daivion Boleware led all scorers with 21 points, plus he pulled down 15 rebounds, and he added 3 assists and 2 steals. All in all, the Vikings placed six players in double digits for scoring. The other five include: Lavonta Ash (16 points), Jordan Turner (13 points), Darrius Roach (13 points), Tyler Swanwick (12 points), and Shane Handlon (10 points).

The Chargers return to action this Wednesday when they host Lansing Community College at Charger Arena. They will follow the women's game, and tip time for the men's game is set for approximately 7:30 p.m. ET. It is the only game of the week for the men's team. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
