Ancilla Bowlers Primed for Regionals

Lansing, MI -- When Ancilla College heads to the Michigan Community College Athletic Association/National Junior College Athletic Association Region 12 Bowling Tournament at the Royal Scot Golf and Bowl on Thursday, they will not be looking for a team championship as in years past. Covid and the late scheduling of tournaments held down the athletes who decided to bowl for the Chargers this year.

That does not mean they will not be fighting for a change to go to nationals.  Jacob Lewis has been on fire lately. Always one of the top men's bowlers for the Chargers, Lewis has won the last two MCCAA tournaments in spectacular fashion. At the Kellogg Invitational two weeks back, he had high series and high game.  His series was 674 and 75 pins better than the runner-up bowler – his teammate, Taylor Haines.  The high game for Lewis was a 248.  The following week at the Schoolcraft Invitational, he also posted the high series, an impressive 728, that was over 100 pins better than second place. He had a 257 high game.

Haines has almost been as impressive. He place second at Kellogg with a 597 series and he was third at Schoolcraft with a 612 series. Logan Hahn has also been improving steadily this year and could make a move up the standings.

For the women, they are a player short of making a team run. Mickayla Huff and Sydney Anderson have been the top bowlers for the women's team this year. They were fifth and sixth, respectively, at the Kellogg event. Huff had a 499 series and Anderson a 474. Expect Kasey Sangster and freshman Katy Ford to push for a top spot.

Team winners and individual qualifiers will advance to the nationals at the royal Scots Golf and Bowl in Lansing, Mich.
