Winter Sports Wrap Up: Men's Bowling Concludes Season At NJCAA National Tournament, Horan Earns All-American Honor

The MU Ancilla Men's Bowling Team concluded their winter season at the NJCAA National Tournament which was held in Cheektowaga, NY on March 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and saw some significant results compiled.  Kody Horan highlighted the Charger men's results by finishing in 8th place out of 130 bowlers.  His 8th-place finish earned him a spot on the All-American team.

Coach Masterson was thrilled for Kody.  "Kody hit his peak at the exact right time, the post-season.  For him to achieve All-American honors, it is a credit to his work ethic, his growing confidence, and his ability to execute at the right time."

Dylan Pohl followed up with a 51st place finish and Sean White was close behing in 61st place, meaning both bowlers finished in the top half of the tournament.

"It is really impressive how well these guys performed at the National Tournament!  Colin Burger and Peter Kenney made a huge impact as well for our guys who kept each other encouraged and positive during some very long days of competition.  These guys have been fun to work with all year and I cannot wait to see how much growth our freshman can make as we prepare for next season."

In addition to his All-American honor, Kody Horan also finished on the All-Region Team.  Seah White was named the MCCAA Western Conference Freshman of the Year and made the All-MCCAA Western Conference team.  Dylan Pohl also was named to the All-MCCAA Western Conference Freshman team.

The Chargers came through to earn one major team award as they won the NJCAA National Tournament Sportsmanship Award.  This award is given to the team and coach that shows outstanding attitudes with each other and also goes out of their way to encourage other teams throughout the event.

Coach Masterson had this to say about the award, "I am so very proud of these guys!  We have talked from Day 1 about competing with integrity, heart, and an encouraging attitude.  To see that recognized by event organizers, other coaches, and other athletes is something that our guys can really be happy about."

The Chargers will look to build on earning this national tournament award along with having an All-American as they prepare for next season.
