
DONALDSON, IN – Southport High School graduate, Richard Dobbins, recently signed his National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at Ancilla College.
Dobbins, a 5'5" defensive player, earned four varsity letters during his lacrosse career at Southport under head coach Doug Aldridge. He was team captain his junior and senior year and attended Max Elite Lacrosse Camp his sophomore and junior year. He was also awarded the Mental Attitude Award his sophomore and junior year.
Southport coach Aldridge commented, "The best defensive player I have ever coached was Richard. He is an extremely hard worker, goes above and beyond anything that is expected out of him and is a born leader."
"Richard is the consummate defender," remarked head coach for Ancilla Brian Welch. "He workd tirelessly at his positioning, footwork and stick skills so he can give you his everything. His upbeat personality is contagious. Everyone tents to gravitate toward his as he has been a great leader. I look forward to having Richard be a part of the first ever Charger Lacrosse team."
When asked why he chose Ancilla, Dobbins replied, "The campus is beautiful and secluded. Coach welch was so great to me and my mom and I just felt very welcomed and at home."
Richard is the son of Stacey Keech and Gil Dobbins.
