Men's Soccer Finishes Postponement with Lake Michigan, Drops a Tough One 3-2

The Chargers were finally able to complete their game with Lake Michigan College from August that was suspended due to heat, hosting the Red Hawks Tuesday afternoon. The game resumed with about 20 minutes left in the first half and the scored tied 0-0, however Lake Michigan was able to pull out the road win, 3-2.

Freshman midfielder Javier Guerra started the scoring for MUAC with a penalty kick with 16:32 remaining in the opening stanza, however the Red Hawks were able to tie the score 1-1 late in the first half.

The second half again began with the Chargers adding a tally first, as Freshman midfielder Jared Garcia put MUAC up 2-1. Unfortunately for the Chargers, it was the final time they would find the net, while the Red Hawks scored two more times, exiting Donaldson, Indiana, with the 3-2 victory.

All in all, the Chargers were able to get 20 shots on goal, while Freshman midfielder Santiago Morales led the way with seven of those. Freshman goalkeeper Ashton Macedonio was able to save four shots on goal as well.

After winning three of their previous four matches, Head Coach Kirk Weiss commented, "we came out strong to get the early lead, but the team that wanted it more came away with the win. (It was) frustrating after how we have played the last couple games to end up reverting back to some old habits. We end the season with a game on Saturday at home. We will have three practices in between to work on getting back to how we were winning."

The Chargers return to action on Saturday, October 21st, as they host Jackson College. First kick is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Please come out and support the Chargers in their final home match of the year!
