Chargers Defeat Owens, Win Streak Now at 4

Wednesday afternoon, the Marian Ancilla Men's Soccer team proved they could win a low scoring, tight matchup, extending their winning streak to four games with a 1-0 success against Owens Community College.

It was a defensive battle by both teams, as the only score came shortly into the second half when Charger Freshman Yeffreys Quintanilla found the back of the net for what would prove to be the game-winning goal.

Redshirt Freshman Trent Platz tallied his second consecutive shutout, as the Chargers have also won three consecutive Region 12 contests while playing on the road.

Marian Ancilla Head Coach Kirk Weiss was thrilled following the win, stating, "I'm proud of the guys for really battling when we didn't play our best game. Being able to get a win on the road knowing we didn't play the best is huge for this team. Three straight road wins in our region isn't easy; it just shows how far the guys have come this season. Next, we have a huge test on Saturday to keep this streak going."

The Chargers are indeed back in action this Saturday, when they head to Muskegon Community College. The Jayhawks have proven to be one of the better schools in the MCCAA this season. The first kick is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., so please come out and support the team, if you are able!!
