Men Runners 6th in First Meet

      Marysville. MI - The Ancilla College men's cross country team opened its season with a sixth place finish at the Skippers Invite Friday. Nathan Samuels paced the Chargers with a time of 31:04.2, placing 23rd over the five-mile course.  The mark eclipsed the old Ancilla record of 31:53.2 set by Desmond Lewis in 2017, the last year the Chargers competed prior to this season. 

     Kelsey Brown (25th) was close behind to finish in 31:25.5., followed by Jonathan Wiggins (35th), Jayquan Head (43rd) and Austin Garcia (60th) to complete Ancilla's scoring. 

     Grand Rapids won the team competition as its top five runners finished in the top eleven spots. Grand Rapid's Joshua Kipkoech won the event in a time of 27:26.4.  Host St. Clair County was second, and Jackson College was third.   

     Others finishers for Ancilla were Matthew Markovitz, Jacob Wood, and Sean Johnson

     Ancilla's next meet is Sat., Sept. 26 in the Jackson Jets Invitational in Jackson, MI.

     Top Five Men:  1. Joshua Kipkoech (GR) 27:26.4, 2. Drew Mayes (SCC) 28;26.3, 3. Brian Frazee (K) 28:36.8, 4. Aaron Greb (Ma) 28:45.1, 5. Jack Kehoe (GR), 29;24.0.
