MUAC Charger Cross County Invitational is a Huge Success!!

Saturday afternoon, Marian University Ancilla hosted its first ever Charger Cross Country Invitational on the Donaldson, Indiana, campus grounds with great success. Per Charger Head Coach Mat Ferriter, "the meet went very well, and we are receiving amazing feedback." Below are overall meet results for both women's and men's divisions, as well as how both Charger teams performed.

 

WOMEN:

  1. 48 pts - St. Clair County
  2. 77 pts - Southwestern Michigan
  3. 100 pts - Macomb
  4. 104 pts - Lake Michigan
  5. 119 pts - Montcalm
  6. 121 pts - Mott
  7. 158 pts - Kirtland
  8. 173 pts - Lansing
  9. 201 pts - Kellogg
  10. 261 pts - Wayne County

In the women's race, St. Clair County Community College ran away from the pack, with Southwestern Michigan College their toughest competition. However, Lake Michigan Freshman Olivia Ippel (17:54.6), Oakland Sophomore Amy Rowen (18:55.0), and Macomb Freshman Ava LaMilza (19:49.5) were the top three individual finishers in the race. St. Clair County Freshman Jessica Denver (19:53.8) and Grand Rapids Freshman Anna Tubbergen (19:55.7) were the fourth and fifth place finishers. Congrats, ladies!

As for your Lady Chargers, they were unfortunately unable to enter the team race, with only three runners performing. However, Freshman Camryn Buchert (37:08.9), Freshman Sam Benninghoff (45:26.9), and Freshman Erin Stacy (49:09.7) all ran admirably for MUAC. Congratulations to Camryn Buchert as the top Lady Charger finisher!

  2. 70 pts - Southwestern Michigan
  3. 146 pts - Kellogg
  4. 148 pts - Alpena
  5. 156 pts - Oakland
  6. 167 pts - Grand Rapids
  7. 189 pts - Lansing
  8. 189 pts - North Central Michigan
  9. 202 pts - Mott
  10. 231 pts - Macomb
  11. 238 pts - Lake Michigan
  12. 264 pts - Kirtland
  13. 283 pts - Marian Ancilla

As for the men's race, St. Clair County Community College was once again the team to beat, with three runners finishing in the top four spots. Southwestern Michigan was also strong, with four runners in the top 19. St. Clair County Freshman Glen Davis (25:35.8) was your race winner, as Mott Sophomore Parker Austin (25:43.4) was just seconds behind in the runner-up slot. St. Clair Freshmen Matt LaFreniere (26:23.4) and Michael Paoletti (26:27.7) finished third and fourth, while Southwestern Michigan Freshman Ethan Glick (26:28.5) was just on their heels in fifth. Congrats, gentlemen!

The Chargers gave a great effort, and Freshman David Schadek (28:01.4) finished in 18th place out of 98 total runners. Schadek's time also set the MUAC record for a men's race!! The rest of the men's team's results included: Freshman Bryan Chavero Ortega (32:40.7), Sophomore Max Kendzicky (36:55.0), Freshman Reese Hamblin (36:58.5), Sophomore Bryce Taberski (36:58.6), Freshman Chris Conder (42:41.2), and Freshman Noah Risner (48:55.9).

 

All in all, 8 of the 10 Charger runners, men's and women's combined, ran personal best times in this Saturday's Charger Cross Country Invitational. Congratulations to all teams and individuals who participated in this year's event!!
