Lady Chargers Split MCCAA Matchup

Plymouth, IN -- The Ancilla College softball team split a doubleheader with Grand Rapids Community College on Saturday.  The visiting Raiders took the opened 14-5, while the Chargers (1-5, 1-5) posted a victory in the second game, 6-2.

Pitcher Amanda Hartman could not get loose in the opener and that allowed Grand Rapids to get to her early and often. In three inning of work she gave up seven runs, two earned, and struck out four.  Hailey Ebersol led Ancilla's offensive attack with two hits, including a home run and three RBI. She also pitched in relief. Megan Reed had a double and drove in two runs, with Odyssey Whitcomb also doubling.

Game two was a different story as Hartman got assistance from the trainer and increased her range of motion in-between games.  She only allowed three hits and had six strikeouts in collecting her first win of the young season. Karly Unruh had a three-run double with Ebersol doubling to knock in two runs.  Reed finished with two hits and an RBI.  Whitcomb and Gabby Gerard collected two hits apiece, including a double each.

Ancilla will host Lansing Community College on Friday at 3 p.m. in a Michigan Community College Athletic Association doubleheader.
