Chargers Hit but Can't Plate a Run Versus Jackson

The Marian University Ancilla softball team hosted a double-header with the Jackson College Jets Friday afternoon. The Jets got off the bus ready to hit, as they reached base early and often, outscoring the Chargers 21-0 in the first game and 14-0 in the second game. Below is a quick glance at some highlights from each game.

Game-1: The Chargers were able to find four base-runners in this game, with Freshman Abigail Heaston responsible for a single and a walk. Fellow Freshmen Alyssa Mulbarger and Justice Billingsley each singled as well, while Billingsley and Freshman Kylee Heard each stole a base. In just her second appearance of the season, Freshman Abby Witt (0-1) was credited with the loss.

Game-2: The second game was a bit of an anomaly, as the Chargers managed 13 base-runners in the 5-inning contest, including 11 hits and 2 walks. The Chargers should be excited about the 11 hits, which is a season-high. All Freshmen, Alyssa MulbargerAbigail HeastonSamantha Hoffman, and Samantha Perry were each responsible for two singles, while Ambrosia MasonJustice Billingsley, and Keely Qualkenbush each added another single themselves. Abby Witt and Kylee Heard drew the walks, so at some point, all nine Charger batters reached safely. Billingsley (0-2) took the loss, but she pitched all 5 innings of this game and struck out a career-high 4 batters.

The Chargers were supposed to play Saturday (3/30), but those games have been moved to Tuesday (4/2) due to rain. Assuming the field is playable, Marian Ancilla will host Lake Michigan College Tuesday, with games at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
