The Marian University Ancilla softball team unexpectedly took the to road yesterday. With water affecting play on their home field, and time running out in the regular season, the Lansing Stars were able to host, so the Chargers traveled Northeast. Unfortunately, the Stars proved to be too much for MUAC, winning 22-1 and 19-0. Below is a look at a few highlights from yesterday's action.

Game-1 (L 22-1): Trailing 2-0 in the top of the second, the Chargers were able to cut the lead in half when Freshman Kylee Heard singled, stole a base, then fellow Freshman Ambrosia Mason was able to single as well, driving in Heard and making it 2-1. Unfortunately, that accounted for two of the Chargers' three hits and their only run in the contest. Mason was able to reach safely her second time up as well, and she stole a base in the game. Freshman Alyssa Mulbarger has been steady in the field all year, and she once again triggered a double play from her shortstop position. Freshman Abigail Heaston (0-6) was credited with the loss, but she struck out two batters in her 5.0 innings of work.

Game-2: (L 19-0): Despite the score, the Chargers managed four hits in this matchup. Freshman Samantha Perry knocked a double, while classmates Alyssa MulbargerAbby Witt, and Ambrosia Mason each hit singles in the game. Lansing was able to score three or more runs each inning, on their way to their 19 runs. Witt (0-4) drew the start, while Freshman Justice Billingsley entered for a relief appearance for the Chargers.

The Charger softball team will enjoy the rest of the weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday when they travel to Kalamazoo Valley. Game times are currently set for 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
