The Marian University Ancilla softball team learned this week that four members of their program earned all-conference honors. The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) announced it's annual all-conference awards, and the Chargers were thrilled with the outcome.
Freshman pitcher/infielder Samantha Hoffman was named to the MCCAA Western Conference 2nd Team All-Conference. The Fort Wayne native was strong at the plate, batting .293, with 3 doubles, and 10 RBIs, plus she was the team's top pitcher. Hoffman worked 68.0 total innings in the circle, while amassing a 37 to 33 strikeout to walk ratio.
Freshman infielder/catcher Abigail Heaston, Freshman infielder Alyssa Mulbarger, and Freshman first baseman Ambrosia Mason were each named to the MCCAA Western Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Heaston led the team with a .391 batting average, she hit 7 doubles, a triple, and a home run, plus she stole 9 bases. In addition, when she spent time behind the plate, the Fort Wayne resident threw out 8 runners attempting to steal.
Mulbarger was a bright spot in the field, dazzling with her glove. She had a .975 fielding percentage, primarily playing shortstop, plus she added 17 assists and was a part of 8 double plays. At the plate, the Frankfort, Indiana, native hit .309 with 3 doubles, an inside-the-park home run, and she stole 6 bases.
Mason, who hails from Lafayette, was also strong at the plate for the Chargers, hitting .284, with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run, and 9 runs driven in. She also stole 5 bases and was good in the field, as she was responsible for 49 putouts at the first base bag.
The MUAC Athletic Department would like to congratulate all four of these ladies on their achievements, both on and off the field, this season!!
