Stars Defeat Chargers Twice in Lansing

Friday, the Marian University Ancilla Softball team returned to action following a short 5-day break, as they traveled to Lansing, Michigan, to take on the Lansing Community College Stars. While the Chargers fell twice, 12-0 and 9-1, they showed improvement from the first time they faced Lansing, and they did so with their top two pitchers unable to throw. Below is a quick look at each matchup from Friday.

GAME-1 (L 12-0): Lansing got a strong outing from starting pitcher Kyra Shadduck, as she went all 5 innings and limited the Chargers to just 1 hit. MUAC Sophomore first baseman Samantha Hoffman managed to get that hit, plus the Chargers reached safely via walks by Freshmen Morgan FogleKimberly Cummings, and Hannah Carter, but they just couldn't find their way around to home plate. Freshman Madison Lowe (0-2) was able to eat up all 4 innings of work, and only 7 of the 12 runs were earned.

GAME-2 (L 9-1): The Chargers were a little feistier at the plate in game-2, collecting 6 hits and walking twice, but they were only able to get one runner around to score. Freshman Cayla Beasley had two hits, including a double, while Freshmen Morgan FogleKimberly Cummings, and Hannah Carter, plus Sophomore Sofie Francis, each hit singles. Francis (0-3) also did a nice job eating up 5 full innings of pitching duties.

The Marian Ancilla Softball team was scheduled to play yesterday (Saturday), but rain washed that out and moved that double-header to Tuesday (4/22). Those games are set to start at 3:00 p.m. at the MUAC field against Glen Oaks. Please come out and support the ladies, if you are able!!
