Saturday, the 2025 season for the Marian University Ancilla Softball team came to a close in Lansing, Michigan. The Chargers took on the Lansing Community College Stars in a double-header, falling 8-0 and 13-3. Below is a quick look at highlights from each contest.
GAME-1 (L 8-0): Lansing's Kyra Shadduck picked up her 19th win of the season, and it was easy to see why, as she limited Marian Ancilla to just 2 hits in 5 innings of work. Freshmen Morgan Fogle and Kimberly Cummings were responsible for the Charger hits, both singles. Cummings also reached via a walk in this matchup.
GAME-2 (L 13-3): Game-2 actually saw the Chargers jump out in front early, leading 1-0 after the 1st inning. But the Stars responded not long after, scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Marian Ancilla made a late push, scoring 2 in the top of the 5th inning to close the lead to 5-3, but Lansing wanted nothing to do with that, scoring 8 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, essentially ending the game and the season for Marian Ancilla.
Sophomore Samantha Hoffman had a pair of singles and drove in all 3 Charger runs. Sophomore Abigail Heaston and Freshman Cayla Beasley joined her with 2 singles apiece, while Freshmen Cayla Craft, Madison Roach, and Madison Lowe each contributed a single of their own, giving MUAC 9 total hits in this game. The Chargers finish their season 4-28 (2-22 in MCCAA). It marks a 3-win improvement from a year ago, and they won their first MCCAA conference games since the 2022-2023 season.
