Women's Basketball Claims First Win

Monday evening, the Marian Ancilla women's basketball team overcame a subpar shooting night to defeat the Grace College JV team, 49-37. Following two games last week with a combined 46 turnovers, the Chargers did a nice job throughout the evening of taking care of the ball, limiting themselves to just eight turnovers this time out. They also used a strong second half defensive effort and created 12 steals.

Leading the way for the Chargers was Freshman wing De'Mour Watson, who nearly posted a triple-double with her 19 points, 11 rebounds, and seven steals. Freshman guard Nasiya Gause chipped in 14 points of her own, while Freshman post Millie Scorsone grabbed six rebounds off the bench. The 12 team steals were a season high, while the eight turnovers and 14 fouls committed were season lows.

Head Coach Ryan Gould added, "Offensively, we settled for too many quick possessions in the second quarter, and we shot too many quick 3s, but for most of the rest of the game we were much more patient tonight. Defensively, we really turned it up in the fourth quarter and closed out the game."

The women's basketball team is back in action this weekend with two games at home. Saturday they host Henry Ford College, with a 1:00 p.m. ET tip, and Sunday they host the JV team from Indiana Tech, with a 3:00 p.m. ET tip. Both games will be played at Charger Arena in the LifePlex in Plymouth, Indiana. Please come out and support the Chargers!!
