Chargers Win Third in a Row!

The Marian University Ancilla women's basketball team returned to the court Sunday for their third game of the week, and their second contest in as many days, only to walk out of Charger Arena with a 57-42 victory over the Indiana Tech Junior Varsity team.

The Chargers got out of the gates early, leading by five after one quarter, then holding a 29-19 advantage entering halftime. However, the Warriors showed a lot of fight in the third quarter, trimming the lead to single digits on multiple occasions, and narrowing the margin to 39-31 heading into the final stanza. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Chargers kicked it into gear, creating enough separation to eventually put the game out of reach and win, 57-42.

Freshman wing De'Mour Watson followed up her explosive Saturday game with 28 more points Sunday. She again posted a double-double with 15 rebounds, and she added 3 assists and 2 steals to the effort. Sophomore post Derriauna Woodson was perfect in the paint, scoring all three of her field goal attempts and burying 4-4 shots from the free throw line, to score 10 points. She also contributed 8 rebounds in the win. Sophomore wing Samaria Freeman again gave a great defensive effort, limiting one of Indiana Tech's best players to just 2-10 from the field.

This marks the third consecutive win for the Chargers, as they push their record to 3-2 on the season. The ladies are back in action in a week, on Monday, November 20th, when they head to Franklin College to take on the Grizzlies' Junior Varsity team. That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. ET tip. If you are in the Indianapolis area, please come out and support the Chargers!!
