The Marian University Ancilla women's basketball team took to the road once again on Wednesday evening, traveling to Kalamazoo, Michigan, to take on Kalamazoo Valley Community College in an MCCAA matchup. The Chargers were feisty throughout, keeping the game close most of the way, but they eventually fell to the Cougars, 63-55.

The Chargers can point to a pair of key categories on the stat sheet when figuring out the loss. First, they were outscored by 11 points from the charity stripe, as KVCC was 23-33 and MUAC was just 12-22 from 15-feet. Additionally, the Chargers were out-rebounded by a 40-29 margin, but it was the 15 offensive rebounds they allowed that gave the Cougars too many easy second chances around the rim.

Marian Ancilla got strong contributions from Freshman Nasiya Gause and Sophomore Samaria Freemen. Gause scored 19 points, handed out 5 assists, and pulled down 4 rebounds, while Freeman scored 17 points, snagged 5 rebounds, and continued her strong defensive play. Freshman Brooklynn Cooper contributed 8 points and 5 rebounds as well.

Kalamazoo Valley saw a pair of Cougars post double-doubles. Katrise Hudson was responsible for 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Brynne Johnson put together a solid 15-point, 12-rebound outing. Tayanna Townsell was a third double-figure scorer for the Cougars, tossing in 16 points.
