The Marian Ancilla Women's Basketball team had a roller-coaster of a ride Wednesday evening, on their way to a 70-67 win at Macomb Community College, moving the Chargers to 3-0 on the season. It has been three years since they began 3-0, when they opened with three Junior Varsity teams.

As for last night, the Chargers jumped out to a quick 27-14 lead after the first quarter, and they even led 30-18 early in the second, but Macomb came storming back to take a 39-38 advantage into the locker room at halftime. Marian Ancilla responded in the third period and led 54-51 as they headed into the final frame. While they stretched the lead to 65-56 at one point, the Chargers needed some key free throws down the stretch to hold on and secure the win against the Monarchs.

Freshman forward Santana Eubanks, who posted a triple-double in her last outing, came through with a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double in Wednesday's contest. She added 4 steals to her tally. Freshman guard Annika Davis scored 14 points and collected 6 rebounds, while Sophomore guard Nasiya Gause (12 points) and Freshman guard Aaliyah Keil (11 points) also scored in double figures. Freshman post Jadyn Harris pulled down 8 rebounds, 4 of which were offensive, while Freshman guard Karleisha Echols was key off the bench with 6 points and 3 assists. Macomb received a 24-point effort from guard A'Liyah Forris to lead all scorers.

"We are still a little inconsistent at this point, which could be the product of a big Freshman class. But we have found ways to finish and win games so far this season, and 3-0 against a trio of solid teams to start the year is something we will gladly accept," stated Charger Head Coach Ryan Gould. "When we can pair stops with scores, we are capable of putting together big runs, and if we can make that a regular thing each game, we can continue to build on a great start to the season."

The Charger Women's Basketball team has a week between games before they head back into Michigan twice next week. Wednesday, they head to Henry Ford College, and next Friday they are at Montcalm Community College. Please come out and support the Chargers, if you are able!!
