Player of the Week Doubly Sweet for Charger Women

2024 has opened with a bang for Charger women at Marian University Ancilla. Women's basketball Freshman De'Mour Watson earned her third nod of the season as Player of the Week, while women's bowling Freshman Allyson Lawson won the award after her first time taking to the lanes this season.

Watson, a 5-10 wing from Elkhart, Indiana, returned from the holiday break to score 28 points, grab 10 rebounds, collect 3 steals, and dish out 2 assists, as the Chargers defeated Olive-Harvey College 76-50 Saturday in Chicago. Watson was named the Week-9 MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Week for her efforts, and it is the third time she has won the award this season.

Lawson, a Griffith High School graduate, came out on fire Friday at the home bowling tournament, scoring a 3-game total of 538, with a high game of 230. Lawson in turn won the women's portion of the event and set the high score for women on the day, 30 pins greater than the next highest score!! She has been named the Week-1 MCCAA Western Conference Bowler of the Week.

Congratulations to these two young women on their accomplishments last week, and we wish you continued success as you continue your 2023-2024 seasons!!
