Clark Finishes Eighth at Nationals

Garrett Clark finished eighth at the NJCAA Wrestling Nationals this weekend. Clark won his first match on a 3-1 decision and then pinned his opponent in the next match in a time of 5:57. Ranked eighth in the meet, Clark then met up with the heavyweight divisions eventually champion, Boone McDermott of Iowa Central. McDermott quickly pinned Clark in just under a minute.

Garrett Clark won his fourth match on a 5-2 decision and that put him in the medal rounds. He was pinned in his next two rounds to finish eighth, the highest finish ever for an Ancilla wrestler.

James Davis at 133 pounds also got off to a quick start and won by a fall and a 9-0 major decision. He lost both of his next two matches. His fourth match was a 7-9 decision and that kept him out of the medal rounds.

Tykease Baker got a wake-up call in his first round as he was quickly pinned. He responded by winning his next two matches, one a 13-6 decision and the second a pin in 49 seconds. His medal hopes vanished when he lost a 6-7 decision in his final match.

Nelson Roberts lost his first two matches at the 147 weight by pins.

Coach Mark Line had a great first season for the Chargers and is busy recruiting to make next year even better.
