Women's Soccer Plays Hard, Falls at Kellogg

Yesterday afternoon, the Chargers took to the pitch for the first time since their win Saturday. Unfortunately, the Bruins of Kellogg Community College proved to be a bit too much, winning the matchup by a 7-0 spread. The Bruins came out of the gates aggressive, taking a 4-0 lead roughly 15 minutes into the contest.

The Chargers didn't back down, however, as they played the middle portion of the match well, losing that section just 1-0, before surrendering two late penalty kicks to Kellogg for the final tally.

Freshman goalkeeper Sophie Willey put together a nice overall performance, collecting 20 saves in the outcome, while Freshman forward Natalie Boulier (3 shots on goal), Sophomore defender Roxie Foerg (2 shots on goal), plus Sophomore midfielder Myah Donovan and Freshman defender Catelyn Naragon (1 shot on goal apiece) were aggressive at the offensive end of the field.

The Chargers' effort was noted by Head Coach Destiny Fulmer, "I am proud of the girls for never giving up. Once again they were playing through bumps & bruises and injuries, so a few players had to step into different positions than normal. After we settled in and found the right formation, the girls fought hard. We will keep pushing forward and preparing for our last road trip of the year this Saturday."

Next up for the Chargers is a Saturday afternoon matchup with Lake Michigan College. The game will kick off at 1:00 p.m., October 14th, in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
